Good Evans!
Multi-millionaire
DJ Chris Evans has wed teenage singer Billie Piper in a secret
cheapie ceremony in Las Vegas.
The shock
wedding was revealed live on air by Virgin Radio DJ Nick Abbott.
A station spokeswoman said: "We are delighted to formally announce
that Chris Evans and Billie Piper have married.
"The
ceremony took place in Las Vegas with close friends in attendance.
"Virgin
Radio knew of their intention to marry last week but we were
sworn to secrecy.
"We wish
Chris and Billie every happiness and look forward to celebrating
with them when Chris returns to the breakfast show next Monday.''
Billie,
18, and Evans, 35, had been tipped to wed later this year
but brought the ceremony forward to avoid the paparazzi, who
have dogged them in Britain and abroad.
They
married on Sunday evening in a £200 deal at the Little Church
of the West in Vegas. The cut-price package includes organ
music and a set of photos.
Evans'
TV presenter pal Danny Baker was best man at the wedding which
was attended by six guests. Billie's parents weren't there.
The bride
wore a white shirt, pink sarong and flip flops, while the
groom wore a shirt and green striped trousers.
The couple
have been together since last December, when Piper went on
to Evans' Virgin Radio show to promote the single Walk of
Life.
She had
recently parted from Five star Ritchie Neville.
Evans
has been linked to a string of women. He has dated Geri Halliwell,
Kim Wilde, Anna Friel and had a long on-off relationship with
TV producer Suzi Aplin.
His first
wife DJ Carol McGiffen, who was married to him from 1991 to
1998, said: "It's typical of him to do it on a Bank Holiday
Monday. It will get him lots of publicity won't it?"
The Little
Church of the West has hosted a number of celebrity weddings.
They
include Elvis and Priscilla Presley, Bob Geldof and Paula
Yates, Noel Gallagher and Meg Mathews and Richard Gere and
Cindy Crawford.
